Wait a Second, Say That Again # 8

"I must be fine because my heart's still beating."

White Stripes, Fell In Love with a Girl

I wrote some time ago about the fact that my car's CD player had died. This meant agonizing months of being at the mercy of the radio. But my husband fixed this scenario as a birthday present. I am back in business.

One of my latest obsessions is the White Stripes. Although I have been enjoying them from the minute they hit the scene, I have only recently given them the listening they deserve. I will save a longer love-fest for another post, but for now wanted to share this line.

There are some days that nothing will sum up one's state of being better. It could be construed as over-dramatic and yet -- nothing could be simpler. Go check and see if you're fine. I'll be here when you get back.

I hear a sound like a stone thumping against a cave wall. Is that right?

And Yes FN -- The White Stripes ROCK HARD. I have a serious weakness for power trios -- but they go beyond that as a power duo. The drummer Meg is my hero. Check them out! Run!

Love White Stripes. You should also check out The Black Keys. Bluesy but hard...very, very basic.

Just realized my post above sounds a bit like a punchline..."White Stripes and Black Keys." Ha, never thought of it that way...rest assured The Black Keys are a real group.

I've not heard of them (which is no reflection on them.) I will go listen though.

I watched this google video. It was very fun. I used to go see bands in our area that played this kind of music. I had to stop because the next day my neck would be sore and my brain bruised.

Thanks Joel -- I will go check them out and report back! so psyched you dig the Stripes.

Goldennib that link is AWESOME! I had never seen the video that went with this song. I too slammed in my day and visited the chiropractor frequently. Do you remember any of the bands -- always interestd in that sort of thing.

I always enjoyed listening to the Violent Femme's first album - it was somehow very strengthening, emotionally.

Indie -- The Femmes first album, MAN! I can sing the entire thing from beginning to end. There is amazing range on that album everything from "I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record..." to the song "Good Feeling." It was one of the mechanisms that got me through my Junior year in college.

They were mostly local bands. Unfortunately, I'm really bad with names, but one of our favorites had this really cute guy as lead singer. He was tall, with very long strawberry blonde hair. They were fun.
